St. Catharines’ first-ever drone show to celebrate the city’s 150th anniversary is being postponed following the Canada Day windstorm and heavy rain.
On Wednesday, the drone display was expected to happen alongside the fireworks in Port Dalhousie.
The city says damage to some of the drones during heavy rain and winds that knocked down trees and branches had prevented this show from happening.
However, the firework show did go on after the storm passed along with the Montebello Park festivities.
On Thursday, city workers were out fixing downed trees while the city’s customer service was experiencing high volumes of calls.
St. Catharines is now looking at rescheduling the drone display for a time that works for the contractor and the municipality.
Mayor Mat Siscoe says holding the show during the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival is one option that is being considered.
