Niagara police have charged a Hamilton man Thursday in connection to the trafficking of a woman in the Niagara Region and elsewhere in Canada.

Officers say they began an investigation in October and were able to identify the suspect involved as 35-year-old Jermayne Henwood.

Investigators with the Niagara police Human Trafficking Unit arrested Henwood in Hamilton.

Henwood has been charged with offences including trafficking in persons, advertising another person’s sexual services, procuring, and for administering noxious substances.

He remains in custody pending a bail hearing Thursday at a St. Catharines courthouse.

Detectives believe that there may be other victims, and ask anyone who believes they may be a victim, or know of anyone who has had an interaction with the suspect to contact police at (905) 688-4111, option 3, ext. 1029736.

Survivors of Human Trafficking are also encouraged to reach out to the Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline by calling 1-833-900-1010, or going to their website here.

Tips can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Niagara online, or by calling them at 1-8000-222-8477 (TIPS).
