55-year-old St. Catharines man arrested in connection with sexual assaults

Niagara police have arrested a St. Catharines man following an investigation into two sexual assaults alleged to have occurred between May 2025 and January 2026.

Officers began investigating two historical sexual assaults after two teenage female victims reported assaults.

According to investigators, suspect was a man who was an acquaintance of the victim’s families. Police add the offences are alleged to have taken place at a home in St. David’s.

On April 15, detectives arrested 55-year-old Shawn Hollingworth of St. Catharines who is now facing the following charges:

  • Sexual Assault (two counts)
  • Sexual Interference (two counts)

Authorities believe there may be more victims, saying the years of the offences could date back as far as the early 2000s.
