Halton police say they’ve noticed a spike in thefts and break-ins at homes near green spaces and trails — particularly houses that back onto wooded areas, ravines, or walking paths.
Investigators believe organized crime groups are responsible for these incidents, and are targeting homes near trail systems in order to escape quickly.
Officers have noticed these groups striking multiple homes in a short period of time before relocating. They say suspects often wear dark clothing, gloves, facial coverings, and backpacks, allowing them to blend in with pedestrians on residential streets and trail systems.

Police are reminding residents to keep their homes secure by locking all doors, windows, and fenced yard gates, using a home security system, and storing valuables in a secure safe.
