OPP say one person was ejected from a vehicle and later struck by another passing vehicle in the southbound lanes near the third line.

Police say three occupants between the ages of 18, 19 and 20, were in the vehicle around 8:30 p.m., when the 19-year-old driver lost control of the car as she negotiated a turn on Highway 406.

In a social media post, Const. Kerry Schmidt said the car went into a ditch and rolled over.

An 18-year-old passenger from Thorold, Ont., was ejected from the car and and later struck by another passing vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other two occupants went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police say the road conditions were wet, snow-covered and not ideal at the time of the crash.

Schmidt says police will also be investigating seatbelt use.

All lanes have since reopened.
