Police charge man accused of making death threats against Burlington city staff

Halton police have arrested and charged a Burlington man accused of making death threats towards city employees, resulting in a hold-and-secure at city hall Wednesday.

Police say that around 1:15 p.m. a City of Burlington staff member received a telephone call from an upset man, during which he made threats of physical harm towards employees.

As a precaution city hall was closed and workers inside were sent home while a police investigation took place.

The 37-year-old local resident was charged Wednesday night with uttering threats to cause death.

He is currently in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
