Police arrest two Hamilton men in October assault against transgender person

Hamilton police have arrested two local men in their 20s after a hate-motivated assault against a transgender person in October.

An altercation took place in the early morning of Oct. 25 as the victim was leaving a bar on Hess Street South in the city with friends.

Video footage showed several people taking part in the attack that sent the victim to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The two men — one 21 and the other 23 years of age — were arrested on Wednesday and face assault charges. They are both scheduled to appear in court at the end of next month.

Investigators believe additional individuals were involved in the hate-motivated crime.
