Police were called to a single vehicle collision in Milton on Wednesday night after an SUV collided with a fire hydrant and caused localized flooding.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. on Trudeau Drive.

Halton police say that two homes had their basements flooded and that power was shut off for safety reasons.

The driver of the SUV was charged with careless driving under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
