Hamilton bus storage area delayed until 2026 due to ventilation issues

There has been a delay in completing the new bus maintenance and storage facility in Hamilton.
The City says the reason is due to bringing its ventilation system up to Canadian standards.
When finished, the $400-million structure — commonly known as the ‘bus barn’ — will store up to 200 HSR buses and will have the capacity to add an additional 100 vehicles.
The total cost of the delays has yet to be finalized but the City says it is expected to fall within the project’s contingency allowance.
The building at 281 Birch Ave. is now scheduled for substantial completion next summer.
