St. Catharines e-bike rider dead after collision with bus

A 55-year-old St. Catharines man riding an e-bike has been killed following a collision with a bus on Friday in St. Catharines.
Police say at around 6:30 p.m. a man riding an e-bike ran into the side of a bus at the corner of King and Carlisle streets.
Officers say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say the initial investigation suggests that the man on the e-bike went through the intersection despite a red light.
No injuries have been reported from the occupants of the bus.
Niagara Transit issued a statement in response to the fatal crash.
“Our sincere condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased rider of the E-bike,” the statement says in part.
Police continue to investigate this accident.
