The Tenors “deeply sorry” for anthem change at MLB All-Star game

The Tenors say they are deeply sorry for a political statement made during the singing of O Canada before the MLB All-Star game in San Diego.

A line in the anthem was changed to “we’re all brothers and sisters, all lives matter to the great.” Remigio Pereira sang the altered lyric and held up the sign saying “all lives matter.”

In a statement on Facebook, the group blames the incident solely on Pereira, saying he acted as a lone wolf, expressing his own political views. The Tenors say he won’t be performing with them until further notice.

Pereira later responded saying that he was moved by the tragic loss of life lately, and that he hoped a positive statement would quote, “bring us all together”. He went on to say, “that was my singular motivation when I said all lives matter.”
