Health officials in this region are upping their surveillance following several reported cases of measles in Toronto. The childhood disease, once thought to be eradicated in the western world is resurfacing causing fear that an outbreak could be on the horizon.

100 people were infected with measles at Disneyland in California last month.

Officials say measles is an entirely preventable disease and worry that people do not realize how serious it can be.
