A former RCMP arson investigator who helped probe the Swissair crash says it’s possible criminal activity was behind the 1998 disaster off Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia.
Tom Juby told the CBC this based on the high levels of magnesium, iron and aluminum, all important ingredients in an incendiary device, that were found in the cockpit area of the aircraft.
Juby has long believed that incendiary device may have caused the crash that killed 229 people.
But he says top Mounties and aviation-safety officials prevented him from pursuing his theory.
