Use of VIP jets under investigation

Prime Minister Stephen Harper says his government will be looking into the use of VIP jets by the Chief of Defence staff.

Access-to-information documents show General Walter Natynczyk has spent more than $1 million flying on the air force’s Challenger jets.

That includes a flight to join his family in the Caribbean after he missed his commercial flight to be on hand for the return of four soldiers and a journalist killed in Afghanistan.

Harper says he expects all senior officials to reimburse taxpayers for the cost of personal flights on government aircraft.
