Guns, vets and pensions: those were the hot topics on the campaign trail Monday — as a new poll shows the Liberals are making modest gains on the Conservatives.


The Canadian Press Harris-Decima poll put the Conservatives at 35 per cent support, ahead of the Liberals at 28 per cent.
The NDP is at 17 per cent — while the Bloc stood at 10 — and the Greens at 8.
The numbers are almost identical to the federal election results that delivered a Conservative minority government in 2008.
Top Tory Stephen Harper brought his campaign to Guelph and Welland, which is where Lisa Hepfner caught up with him.
