Family and close friends of a 17-year-old boy who was fatally shot in a parking lot last Friday say the teen was a loving son who always helped his mother with his younger siblings.
Keden Bond was born and raised in Hamilton and was one of seven children. He recently graduated high school with plans of following in his grandfather’s footsteps and becoming an electrician.
The teen was gunned down in what police are calling a targetted shooting behind a restaurant on Stoney Creek mountain.
He was out getting food with his 35-year-old uncle and 25-year-old brother around 7:30 p.m. when two people approached the trio and opened fire.
Bond was rushed to hospital with critical injuries where he later died. The boy’s older brother was also treated in hospital for gunshot wounds but later released. His uncle suffered life-altering injuries and remains in hospital.

The teen’s Godmother, Jen, along with family friends Camille and Cindy, spoke with CHCH News on Monday and said the boy’s mother is completely devastated by the loss of her son.
“How do I tell her that my Godson is never coming back. When she drops on the ground and I have to go on the ground with her. How do I tell her he is never coming back,” said Jen.
They described Bond as the glue of his family and can’t make sense of the shooting.
“A good loving boy. That’s why the community is outraged. That’s why everyone’s reaching out to help because he was a good boy. Nobody can understand why this happened,” said Camille.
Police are still searching for the shooters and have only described the suspects as wearing “dark clothing.”
Anyone with information that could help with the investigation is asked to contact Det. Frank De Vuono at 905-546-3827.
