Ontario reported 1,745 cases of COVID-19 and ten deaths on Friday, as the government announced plans to open up vaccinations to people 75 and older.
The daily case count comes as the province completed 56,134 tests. The reported positivity rate, which takes into consideration the date tests were completed, is 3.3 per cent.
The province says 61,146 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday, for a total of 1,420,599 doses.
There are 294,749 people who are fully vaccinated in Ontario.
Another 1,296 cases have been marked as resolved.
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board says there is an outbreak at Dr. Davey Elementary School, with six confirmed cases. A staff member tested positive on Monday. On Thursday, four students tested positive and a second staff case was reported on Friday.
A total of 7,212 people have died in the province, with nearly 54 per cent of those deaths reported in residents of long-term care homes.
There are 759 COVID-19 patients in hospital in Ontario. There are 309 in ICU with 176 of them on ventilators.
