Ontario reports 1,371 COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths

Ontario reported 1,371 cases of COVID-19 and 18 deaths on Friday.

The daily case count comes as the province completed 64,611 tests.

Another 1,124 cases were marked as resolved.

Niagara

• 8,865 total cases — up 28 from Thursday
• 8,252 resolved cases
• 240 active cases
• 5 in hospital
• 373 deaths — up two from Thursday
• 13,165 vaccine doses given

Halton

• 9,959 total cases — up 45 from Thursday
• 9,466 resolved cases
• 295 active cases
• 19 in hospital
• 198 deaths
• 189 total variant cases
• 40,922 vaccine doses given

Brant

• 1,570 total cases — up eight from Thursday
• 1,498 resolved cases
• 61 active cases
• 12 deaths
• 2 in hospital
• 14,028 vaccine doses given; 2,548 people fully vaccinated

Haldimand-Norfolk

• 1,484 total cases — up five from Thursday
• 1,399 resolved cases
• 41 active cases
• 39 deaths
• 11,013 vaccine doses given; 1,581 people fully vaccinated

The province says it administered another 43,503 vaccine doses. As of 8 p.m. Thursday, total of 1,062,910 doses have been administered.

There are 282,748 people in the province are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Canada’s Minister of Public Services and Procurement Anita Anand told Morning Live vaccine deliveries are ramping up and everyone will have access to a vaccine prior to the end of summer.

There are now 1,005 cases of the B.1.1.7 lineage of the virus, which was first reported in the U.K. That’s up from the 956 cases reported on Thursday.

Cases of the B.1.351 strain, first reported in South Africa, is up by one to 42 cases.

There are now 34 cases of the P.1 strain first reported in Brazil.

There are 676 people hospitalized with the virus across the province. 282 are in ICU and 189 are on ventilators.

The death toll is 7,127 people.
