The proceedings at Toronto City Council didn’t stop with accusations of threats. Just before the vote Ford tried to turn the tables by trying to introduce a motion calling on all members of council to get drug and alcohol testing by December 1st. He held up the motion as he defended himself one last time.
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford: “I think that I’ve said everything I really could say today. Apologizing and saying sorry, you can only say it so many times. There’s nothing else to say. I really effed up. And that’s it. The only thing that could prove, that could clear me. I’m not going to start pinpointing people because we all know stuff about each other. I wasn’t brought up that way. I’m not a rat.”
And while Ford is refusing to step aside as Mayor, he’s being asked to stay away from the city’s Santa Claus Parade this year, as organizers say he will be a distraction. A letter was written to Ford’s office asking the Mayor, as a parent, to reconsider his decision.
