Ontario’s health minister has reintroduced legislation that the government says will boost oversight of its Ornge air ambulance service.
Deb Matthews says the bill will protect whistle-blowers who divulge information on Ornge, and allow the government to take control of the agency if necessary. The legislation will also make Ornge subject to Ontario’s freedom of information law by the fall. The original bill was introduced a year ago, but it died when then-premier Dalton McGuinty prorogued the legislature last October.
