London mayor Fontana charged; won’t quit

The mayor of London, Ontario says he won’t step down – despite the fact he’s facing criminal charges related to government cheques, apparently written to cover costs of his son’s wedding in 2005 when Joe Fontana was labour minister in the Paul Martin government.

Fontana resigned from the local police services board because he’s required to now that he faces criminal charges. But he told CHCH’s Lisa Hepfner that was given a mandate by the people of London two years ago, and he plans to stick it out.
