Kormos critical of school for underclass

Welland’s MPP is pouring cold water on plans for a so-called ‘poor school’ in his community.

New Democrat Peter Kormos says the Niagara District School Board’s plan for 150 students from low income homes to be sent to a separate school is a repugnant idea. He’s sent a letter to the education minister outlining several reasons why he thinks it’s a bad idea. Kormos says every student should have equal access to educational opportunities and special support to — in his words — fulfill their academic potential.

So far Kormos’s office says he hasn’t had any response.
