Saturday was a special day for Dunnville couple Lorne and Fern Lymburner.

They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary with all of their friends and five generations of family.

Three quarters of a century of marriage has given some beautiful memories.

It all started when Lorne gave Fern a piece of juicy fruit bubble gum in church, the only thing he had to offer, and asked to see her later outside.

They were married when Fern was just 16 and Lorne 19 in 1939.

The couple’s daughter Glenna Lane says she has learned plenty of lessons from her parent’s relationship. She has been married herself for 55 years.

“Well they do inspire me because of all their love.”

In total 6 grand children, 9 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren were present.

So what’s the key to a happy marriage?

They say make sure you make up before you go to bed if you’ve been arguing.

After 75 years of marriage they say it keeps getting better and better.
