Ontario’s privacy commissioner, Ann Cavoukian, is calling for police services to stop the indiscriminate disclosure of attempted suicide information.
This comes after reports of Canadians being denied access into the U.S. because of information released to the crossing guards around mental health, including attempted suicide.
This information is recorded by police services and can be uploaded into the Canadian Police Information Centre data base.
Cavoukian made it very clear that the Ministry of Health did not release any of the information across the U.S. boarder in regards to disclosure of mental health information.
