A 13-year-old boy has been charged after he allegedly fled the scene of a collision that happened while he was driving a vehicle he had stolen from a family member on Friday.
Around 2:33 p.m., officers responded to a reported two-vehicle collision in Fort Erie when they learned that one of the vehicles had left the site of the crash.
Police arrived at the intersection of Elm Street and Ridge Road North where they found the driver of a black jeep, a woman in her 20s, who was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Initial investigations led officers to find a damaged green 2000 Chrysler Cirrus parked nearby that the driver had run from.
Detectives were able to identify the owner of the car and later the driver, who they say had stolen the vehicle from a family member earlier in the day.
