Two arrested in 2018 murder of Marko Bakir: Hamilton police

First Published:

Hamilton police say two people have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the 2018 homicide investigation into the death of Marko Bakir.

Officers have been investigating since Bakir was shot to death on his own driveway on Clifton Downs Rd. in Hamilton on Nov. 22, 2018.

The homicide unit announced Friday the arrest of 28-year-old Alessandro Giammichele of Hamilton for the first-degree murder of Bakir. Giammichele was also known as “Gino” and “Sandro.”

Hamilton homicide detectives arrested Giammichele in Thunder Bay on May 18.

Giammichele appeared in a virtual Thunder Bay court, and is now in custody.

Abdelaziz Ibrahim, 25, of Hamilton has also been charged with the first-degree murder of Bakir. Ibrahim is currently in custody on unrelated matters.

Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information in relation to this homicide to contact Det. Robert Di Ianni at 905-546-3836.
