Detectives say the child found in the Grand River in Dunnville earlier this week was a toddler.

A post-mortem conducted on Thursday determined she was between the ages of 10.5 months and 2.5 years old.

Studies are currently being done to determine the length of time in the water.

Investigators say there is still work to be done, “it’s going to take the community to identify her. To give her her name back. Right now she’s just an unknown, unidentified little girl lying in the morgue. We need to identify her,” OPP Detective Inspector Shawn Glassford said.

The community will be holding a candlelight vigil to remember the little girl on Monday, May 23rd.

Local residents tell CHCH News hundreds are expected to gather and pay their respects at the Dunnville Bridge parking lot from 8:30 to 9:00 p.m.
