Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has tapped a prominent Canadian political figure to advise on economic strategy moving forward.

This as Prime Minister Mark Carney heads to Paris for continued peace talks.

Ukraine is moving to strengthen it’s economic planning, while diplomatic efforts to end the war with Russia continue.

Zelenskyy has now appointed former Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland as Ukraine’s economic advisor.

U.S. President Donald Trump, who hosted Zelenskyy over the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort, says Ukraine and Russia are “closer than ever before” to a peace settlement, though he acknowledged outstanding obstacles could prevent a deal.
