Trump leaves future of CUSMA uncertain, could let agreement expire next year

As the trade war initiated by the Trump administration continues to wreak havoc on the Canadian economy,  the president says he may or may not let the Canada-United States-Mexico (CUSMA) free trade agreement expire next year.

The deal was originally signed during Donald Trump’s first term and is facing a review in 2026. Trump told reporters his decision could go either way in an Oval Office meeting held on Wednesday while discussing the American auto industry alongside top executives.
