VIDEO: Hungary’s Viktor Orban era of authoritarian and far-right policies has been swept away in a landslide election. Orban was defeated in a landslide vote by Tisza party leader Peter Magyar, a former Orban loyalist who campaigned against corruption and on everyday issues like healthcare. It was a stunning blow for Orban, a close ally of U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. With nearly all of the votes counted, election officials say Magyar’s Tisza party is set to secure two-thirds of the seats in parliament. Magyar has already pledged to restore Hungary’s relations with the European Union and NATO.
