Hamilton police have charged a 33-year-old woman with trespassing after an incident during a campaign rally for Ontario Progressive Conservative Leader Doug Ford.
Officers said a protest began Thursday around 5:30 p.m. after Ford arrived for a campaign stop at John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport.
The protest eventually moved onto private property, blocking the road to the Cargojet facility, police said. Officers asked protesters to move off the roadway. Police said everyone complied except for one person who refused and was arrested.
Hamilton police confirmed to CHCH News in an email that both Cargojet and the airport provided a trespass letter to give trespass authority to officers.

Soon after the incident, the Twitter account for Toronto-based lawyer Caryma Sa’d posted a video showing Hamilton police handcuffing and arresting her at the event.
Sa’d is known for reporting on the far-right movement and groups opposed to public health measures. Sa’d also publishes political cartoons and has been publicly critical of Ford in the past.
Sa’d said she was trying to attend the event – not protest it – and she had an RSVP in hand.
Hamilton police said the 33-year-old woman was released from custody last night with a ticket for trespassing.
