Shelter-in-place lifted after threat toward John Brant Public School

First Published:

Police say a shelter-in-place order has been lifted following a bomb threat toward a Fort Erie elementary school Thursday morning.

Officers say a John Brant Public School staff member contacted police after receiving the phone threat shortly after 10:30 a.m.

“The school implemented a shelter-in-place safety procedure out of an abundance of caution,” the force said in a news release.

Around noon, officers determined there was no risk or ongoing threat to school members.

Farr Ave. and Highland Dr. were closed between Mill St. and Ridge Rd. North as police investigated.

“Road closures have been lifted and children will continue their school day as scheduled,” the force said in a tweet.

The identity of the suspect remains unknown and there have been no arrests at this time.
