Hamilton Police looking for man in shooting at short-term rental

First Published:

UPDATE: Hamilton Police say Christopher Mitchell was arrested on Aug. 14 in the GTA. He faces several firearms-related charges.

Hamilton police have released a picture of a man they are looking for after shots were fired inside a short-term rental on Aberdeen Avenue.

Police say 18-year-old Christopher Mitchell, of no fixed address in the Peel region, is considered armed and dangerous. He is wanted for a number of gun charges including reckless discharge of a firearm after threatening an Airbnb manager.

Police say three men arrived at the home on Sunday and within a short time, other residents said the men were causing a disturbance. The property manager showed up to evict the men and that’s when one of them pulled out a shotgun pointed it at the manager and then fired into the ceiling. No one was hurt, but a light fixture was damaged.

Police believe Mitchell is the shooter and they are still working to identify the other two men. They say all three were seen driving away in a grey SUV, possibly a Toyota
