Police say a 53-year-old teacher in St. Catharines is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a student.
Officers in the Niagara region began the investigation in May following reports of a sexual assault involving the teacher and one student at St. Catharines Collegiate Secondary School on 34 Catherine St.
Investigators say the District School Board of Niagara suspended the teacher soon after.

When police formed reasonable grounds to arrest the teacher in August, they discovered the teacher left Ontario. A Canada-wide arrest warrant was then issued.
Niagara police learned on Tuesday that the Calgary Police Service found the teacher in Alberta. Officers then flew out west to arrest the teacher and bring him back to Niagara Falls.
Investigators have arrested and charged Lorne John Gocking with four counts of sexual assault and four counts of sexual exploitation of a young person.
