The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid around 12,600 traffic-related charges leading up to and during the Victoria Day long weekend.
The Canada Road Safety Week campaign took place from May 16 to 22.
Police say it was designed to increase public compliance with safe driving measures to save lives and reduce injuries on the roads.

The force responded to seven road fatalities during the annual initiative, with three of the fatal collisions happening over the long weekend.
OPP says while the results are preliminary, they laid nearly 6,900 speeding charges across Ontario. There were also over 176 instances of aggressive driving leading to stunt driving charges.
The campaign also yielded 245 cases of impaired driving, 144 instances of distracted driving, 124 occurrences of careless driving and 622 violations for not wearing seatbelts, which applied to drivers and passengers.
