Ontario reports 1,563 COVID-19 cases and 88 deaths

Ontario reported 1,563 cases of COVID-19 and 88 deaths on Thursday.

This comes as the province completed 64,467 tests. The reported positivity rate, which takes into account the date tests were taken, is 2.6 per cent.

Another 1,956 cases marked as resolved.

There are 1,101 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, including 323 in intensive care, with 241 of them on ventilators.

Ontario administered another 6,724 doses of COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday. As of 8 p.m., a total of 355,055 doses have been given.

There are 80,977 people who have received both shots of the vaccine.

The death toll in the province is 6,393 people, with 57.6 per cent of those deaths reported in residents of long-term care homes.

  • 8,062 total cases — up 36 from Wednesday
  • 6,811 resolved cases
  • 915 active cases
  • 336 deaths — up four from Wednesday
  • 4,807 vaccine doses administered

Brant

  • 1,363 total cases — up two from Wednesday
  • 1,315 resolved cases
  • 39 active cases
  • 9 deaths
  • Five in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 1,353 total cases — up 13 from Wednesday
  • 1,247 resolved cases
  • 63 active cases
  • 38 deaths

Six Nations

  • 165 total cases
  • 144 resolved cases
  • 19 active cases
  • 2 death

On Wednesday the province announced students in much of the province, including Hamilton, Niagara and Halton, will be returning to class on Monday.
