The Oakville and Milton Humane Society is asking for the public’s help after three dogs were brought to the shelter in “terrible condition” within the last week.
An older female dog found on Kerr St. is under-socialized, diabetic, blind in one eye and underweight.
Two younger dogs found at Maple Grove Village are also under socialized and malnourished.
“The older dog is definitely doing much better than the two younger dogs,” said Stephanie Aleksich, OMHS manager of Animal Protective Services.
“The two younger dogs are still very very frightened and nervous around people.”
The animal shelter says pet owners should contact them for support to prevent unfortunate situations like this.
“It’s heart-wrenching to see animals like this in our community, and we encourage people to reach out before it gets to this point,” Aleksich said.
“OMHS is a resource for anyone who cannot afford to provide care for their pets.”
People with information regarding the malnourished dogs are asked to contact the shelter at 905-845-1551 or shelter@omhs.ca.
Aleksich said donations are also appreciated to help care for the dogs and other animals at the Oakville and Milton Humane Society.
