Niagara Falls woman charged with arson after fire lit on front porch

A 47-year-old woman from Niagara Falls is charged with arson after the front porch of a house was set on fire over the weekend.

Niagara police were called to a house on Bridge St. near Chysler Ave. around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday for reports of a fire on the front porch.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire quickly with damages to the home estimated at $2,000.

The fire was deemed to be suspicious in nature and police say a person was seen running from the scene shortly after the fire began.

Officers were able to identify a suspect in partnership with the Niagara Falls Fire Service Fire Prevention Office.

Brenda Lee Theal, 47, of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with arson causing damage to property.
