New COVID-19 safety measures for Ontario bars and restaurants

Ontario is implementing new COVID-19 safety measures at bars and restaurants.

Restaurant-goers will have to stay seated at all times in both indoor and outdoor areas, with limited exceptions.

Restaurants and bars will have to keep customer logs and keep that information for 30 days.

That information will be used to support contract tracing.

Prior to this, a customer log was only a recommendation.

“These additional measures will help reduce close contact between individuals in these settings, and support case and contact tracing, thereby limiting the spread of COVID-19,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott.

This comes as Ontario reported 134 new cases of COVID-19 Friday.
