Theatre Aquarius presents new comedic play on divorce called ‘Pat and Skee’

A new comedic play about divorce is at the box office at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton.
Pat and Skee, written and directed by Sky Gilbert, is an homage to Gilbert’s parents who tried their best to raise him despite the unpleasantness of their divorce.
The play features Gilbert as himself, Suzanne Bennett as his mother (Patricia) and Ralph Small as his father (Skee).
“It’s a very personal story and it’s very odd being in it because I get to talk to my mother, I get to confront her about various things…It’s like bringing your parents back to life,” Gilbert said in an interview on Morning Live Wednesday.
As a child of divorce, Gilbert said this play searches for the wistful, often comic essence of the struggles that lie at the heart of any broken family.
Pat and Skee is playing at Theatre Aquarius until March 12. Tickets can be purchased here.
Gilbert is a novelist, poet, filmmaker, director, actor and drag queen extraordinaire. He is the winner of three Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the Pauline McGibbon Award for theatre directing and the recipient of The Margo Bindhardt Award.
