Seven wedding dress trends to look out for this fall
Bridal wear designers have released their Fall 2022 collections and the message is clear… Glamour is back!
Wedding expert Alison McGill joined the Morning Live team this morning with seven trends to look for, for Fall of 2022.
Mega Bows
“Bows have been big on the bridal scene for quite some time,” said McGill. “Now we’re seeing them seriously elevated and blown up.”
British designer Kate Halfpenny has made a stiff detachable Mikato oversize bow. It lays over the shoulder and makes quite the statement.
“[This bow is]incredibly beautiful and impactful,” said McGill.
Colour
Traditionally, wedding dresses are white. However, McGill says colour is coming into the wedding dress world in a whole new way.
“Pink has obviously been a favourite for a few seasons,” said McGill. “You’ll see a trend here of joyfulness, happiness and beauty…pink looks great on everyone, it is the colour of romance-”
Tulle Tiers
New York designer Andrew Quan has created a buttery yellow wedding dress that features tulle tiers. McGill says this dress continues the theme of beauty, glamour and making a statement.
“I love how it’s styled so simply,” said McGill. “After the two years we’ve had where we were all being minimalists and not dressing up, this is the season where everyone needs to really go for it.”
Creative Laces
Lace continues to be big with a sultry, not-your-grandmother’s-take-on-lace style. McGill points out the form fit and full coverage that balance out the look.
“Lace is a fabric that has always been here, but it has come back to the forefront,” said McGill. ”Celebrities like Lily Collins got married in an incredible lace gown and really put it back on the top charts.”
Blooming Botanicals
Canadian designer Ines Di Santo created a wedding dress that features large embroidered flowers on a traditional looking white wedding dress.
“We’ve seen so many garden weddings and so many weddings happening outside,” said McGill. “This is a perfect dress for that.”
Puff Sleeve 2.0
McGill says puff sleeves have been a trend for a while, but this season tailored puff sleeves are at the forefront.
“[Tailored puff sleeves] have an almost Victorian feeling,” said McGill. “[The show] Bridgerton is coming back so we’re all about these time-period, costume-like details.”
Ball Gowns
Ball gowns are back.
“What can I say, ball gowns are classic, and beautiful,” said McGill. “When are you ever going to wear a ball gown again in your life? It’s your wedding day.”
