Four meaningful Christmas gift ideas for moms
When it comes to gifts, mothers often get missed out when it comes to thoughtful gifts. Sarah Gunn shares her gift idea’s that will warm your moms heart.
Gunn says she likes the idea of a gift bundle. Rather than buying one individual item that mom loves, she says to buy multiple gifts that can go together.
“This makes it feel more curated and special,” said Gunn. “So, let’s give mom a coffee break.”
She offers a “coffee break” themed idea for mom. This involves a single serve Keurig coffee maker in a turquoise colour, paired with a to-go mug in case mom is on the go. Lastly, the bundle includes treats and a good book to offer her the perfect coffee break experience bundle.
“You can pick it all up at Walmart,” said Gunn. “It’s a one-stop shop for the holidays which just makes it super easy.”
Gunn says she loves showcasing local companies that have gift options that give back. She is a fan of NORQUAY Co., which make handcrafted artisan painted canoe paddles.
“The special thing [they did] this holiday season is they partnered with Plastic Oceans Canada,” said Gunn. “They are hoping to raise $10,000 this holiday season because, by 2050, it’s believed that there is going to be more plastic pieces in the ocean than there are fish.”
Gunn launched a company called Gunn & Co. She designs clothing relating to her home in Nova Scotia. Some of the clothes have “Maritimer” on them, as well as “Sociable” which Gunn says you will hear people saying at any bar in Nova Scotia.
When it comes to wrapping, Gunn says an Ontario-based company called Joy Wrap Gift Co. makes wrapping that has the same feeling of opening gifts with paper wrapping, but allowing you to reuse it.
The fabric bags are lined with a material that sounds like paper crunching, which Gunn says gives people the feeling like they are opening a traditional paper wrapped gift.
“Another cool thing [this company] has is a gift card,” said Gunn. “This gift card, turns into a bath bomb…so again, it’s serving a purpose, it’s not just going to go into the recycle bin.”
