There is a big concern among British medical experts over one type of artificial hip; and now they’re advising doctors there to stop using metal-on-metal implants.

The implants were designed to last more than a decade, but many patients are now dealing with increased pain and immobility.

Evidence has been growing for many years that the metal hips fail at a higher rate than those made of plastic or ceramic.

Health Canada recently notified orthopedic surgeons across the country about the potential risks of metal-on-metal implants, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration plans to launch a review.
