HAPPENING NOW:

Grocery Bags and the spread of viruses

A reusable grocery bag is helping researchers learn how the most common type of stomach flu can spread.

Researchers studied an outbreak of norovirus among seventeen members of a girl’s soccer team and four of their chaperones.

They traced the outbreak to a reusable grocery bag stored in a hotel bathroom used by the first patient who got sick.

They say this proves it’s not only surfaces that can become contaminated.

The virus can also release airborne spores that settle on objects nearby.
