HAPPENING NOW:

Easy, but spooky Halloween crafts for kids

Steve Ruddick got crafty this morning with Sara Warren.

First up Sara showed us how to make pumpkins by stamping half an apple to create a jack-o-lantern. She also shared how to make a tie dye pumpkin, and how to tattoo a pumpkin instead of carving it. And her best tip- cut the bottom of the pumpkin and place it over a candle to light it, instead of cutting the top and trying to drop it in.

Next up Sara made ghosts by filling a water bottle with vinegar and baking soda in a balloon, and when you place the balloon overtop of the water bottle, it inflates. She also made fun edible ghosts and witches hats, as well as witches hands, and a witches brew. To make a witches brew, add a bunch of scary things to the bottom of a bowl, and then active the brew by mixing baking soda and vinegar mixed with food colouring.

Another fun thing to craft are spiders and bats. She showed us how to make spiders by putting paint on kids hands and placing them on paper and adding googly eyes.

And if you are looking for something to feed your kids on Halloween, why not make hotdog mummies.

The last thing Steve learned was how to throw a Monster party. Sara and her son Brady wrote a book called “It’s Halloween. Party Like a Monster” which is full of great ideas for Halloween themed parties.

All of these crafts can be found on juniordetectiveagency.com and everything is easy to get in stores or things you already have around the house.
