McMaster winter term to be delivered online

McMaster University has announced its winter term will be delivered online.

The decision was made based on the recommendation of academic and campus leaders.

“By making the decision about the winter 2021 term as early as possible, we hope to provide as much stability as we can in what is a dynamic and unpredictable pandemic,” said school Provost and Vice-President (academic) Susan Tighe in a statement.

“We will continue to work closely with public health officials to monitor the pandemic and make the most informed decisions possible for the university.”

The school’s fall term is already being done online.

With few exceptions, students will not need to be on campus to take courses.

The school says students of programs requiring an on-campus component will get specific information from their departments.

Residences will remain closed but will continue to province accommodation in exceptional circumstances and to support international students or others who need to quarantine.

The school is encouraging students and staff who need help to reach out to the Student Wellness Centre or employee support programs.
