Seven people were charged in Hamilton Sunday May 9 for protesting lockdowns and violating COVID-19 measures.

Police say those charged were apart of a small group gathered in front of Hamilton city hall without masks at around 12 p.m.

Some of the charges laid were for trespassing and others for violating the Reopening Ontario act.

Charges have also been laid following three anti-lockdown protests across Niagara Saturday.

37-year-old Sandor Ligetfalvy of Niagara Falls was charged last weekend after a similar protest in St. Catharines. He’s been charged again after a speech in front of St. Catharines city hall this weekend. He faces several charges including endangering the lives or safety of the public, and disobeying a court order.
