Budding Biologist Workshop

Learn how to look at nature like a biologist!

Budding Biologist is a two-part family workshop series that introduces children ages 7 and up to some of the skills biologists use to explore and study the natural world! Through outdoor exploration, field notes, hands-on science, and nature-inspired art, families will practice observing, recording, collecting, identifying, and preserving their discoveries.

In Workshop 1 of 2, families will explore the outdoors, practice recording observations in My Nature Notes, and learn some of the characteristics biologists use to describe and identify plants and animals. Participants will collect plant material to create nature-inspired insect art while learning about basic insect anatomy. They will also prepare and press a plant specimen that will be saved for the second workshop.
