Historic St. Mark’s Church restoration underway

First Published:

The historic St. Mark’s Church nestled in the Durand neighbourhood in downtown Hamilton is scheduled to complete its restoration that was interrupted by the pandemic.

When done, it is set to be a beacon for a community where green space is sparse. The space will be transformed into a multi-use cultural centre.

Work was done on the church before the pandemic, everything on the outside from the windows, the roof, and the brick were all restored.

The next step is what’s happening inside. Starting tomorrow new floors, walls and lights will be installed to bring the space into the 21st century.

The restoration of the 145-year-old church is slated to be done in 18 months.
