Former U.S. president Donald Trump indicted by New York grand jury

Former U.S. president Donald Trump calls a decision by a Manhattan grand jury to indict him “political persecution and election interference at the highest level.”

Trump has been indicted on charges involving payments made during his 2016 campaign.

Prosecutors in New York are focused on money paid to porn actress Stormy Daniels and ex-Playboy model Karen McDougal to keep the women from going public with claims they had sexual encounters with him.

This is the first-ever criminal case against a former U.S. president.
